Prof. Nojimu Adetunji Amusa
Executive Director, Institute of Professional, Vocational & Technical Studies
Dr. Nojimu Adetunji Amusa is a distinguished professor and former Vice-Chancellor of Southwestern University, Ogun State, Nigeria. He also served as the pioneering Vice-Chancellor of The West African Union University, Cotonou, Republic of Benin, and Université Bilingue Libre Du Togo.
Dr. Amusa graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Microbiology from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) in 1987 and obtained his M.Sc. and PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Ibadan in 1989 and 1991, respectively, making him the first alumnus of OSU to be awarded a PhD.
His academic journey includes roles as Lecturer at the University of Ibadan, Senior Research Fellow at the Obafemi Awolowo University’s Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, and Professor of Molecular Plant Pathology at Olabisi Onabanjo University, where he became the first alumnus appointed as a professor.
Dr. Amusa has published over 160 peer-reviewed scientific papers and authored several books in biology, agriculture, and food science. He has served as Managing Editor of More Journal of Agricultural Science and currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the African Journal of Agricultural Research.
He has supervised and co-supervised over 30 PhD theses and more than 150 master’s dissertations, with several of his students now serving as professors and vice-chancellors across Nigerian universities. Dr. Amusa is Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies and a member of the Board of Trustees of the OOU National Alumni Association.
